Social Media (Week 6)

In this generation, social media is widely used almost everywhere. It allows us to connect and share our knowledge to the rest of the world. It also allows one to express themselves. There are many different browsers, such as Google, Yahoo or Internet Explorer that we can use to gain knowledge, for research or just simply for browsing for entertainment. Social media also let us to connect with family, friends or the people from all around the world. We can use chat tools or instant messengers such as Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live Messenger or AIM to chat instantly or we can also keep them in touch using Facebook or Friendster. Besides that, we can also express ourselves using social media. There are free blog sites such as Blogspot, Wordpress or Xanga for those who prefer writing and share their daily experiences to other people. Not forgetting to those who prefer to show than to write and describe, they can share about anything, from their hobbies to their talents on Youtube. Social media definitely plays an important role in my life. It has helped me in a lot of ways. For example, I use Google or Yahoo to do my research as it is more convenient and faster. I do not have to look in book by book. I stay connected with friends and family through Facebook and instant messengers and I can express myself through my own blog and Twitter. Social media is important as it is convenient, free of charge and saves a lot of our time.
